Westmore and Friends

In June we had the pleasure of hosting a medical team from Westmore Church of God in Cleveland, TN. At the same time we had the opportnuity to welcome two nurses from another team visiting in La Ceiba and a couple of old friends (and now RNs) Doug and Pam Lolley. It was incredible to see how God made a way for each one of the group members to find a way to Honduras specifically for that week.

We took the group to the village of San Luis - a flat, completely dry, 30 minute hike - where we were the first group ever to administer medical care in their village. It was an incredible challenge as the supposedly easy hike left us all out of breath and tired before we even arrived, but God showed up and our strength was renewed as we began to minister hope and healing to His people.

Although this team was a bit out of the ordinary, a combination of 3 different groups of people, God knew exactly what He was doing when He brought them. It was a week of spiritual breakthrough and personal victories for the entire group. We hope to see them all again next year...we don't know how we are going to do it but we want them all back at the same time!

Attention: All prospective Rio Viejo volunteers! There is a significant amount of difference in the length of "time" on a "30 minute" hike and the actual physical exertion experienced by the hiker!! Dr. Martin and his lovely wife Wendy promise they "can tell time", but for some unknown reason 30 minutes always turns into 3 hours...Having lived through a "30 minute hike" myself, all I can say is I would cheerfully do it over and over. God is with us during these hikes and he will never forsake those who serve Him...God bless everyone who has ever left on a hike with the Martin's. God bless Martin and Wendy and Samuel and Rachel. They are angels here on Earth!
